As seen in the Daily Herald:
Schaumburg-based Lavelle Law wrapped its annual food drive benefiting the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry. During the month of October, Lavelle Law set up collection boxes around Schaumburg and the surrounding area, where residents and workers could drop off nonperishable food items, paper goods, personal care items, baby food and diapers. Participants could also make cash donations online.
Thanks to the generosity of residents and sponsors, the food drive was able to collect a massive amount of food for the pantry. The box located at the main branch of the Schaumburg library, for instance, was overfilled and needed to be picked up five times throughout the three-and-a-half-week event.
In addition to the food collected in the 16 boxes located throughout the northwest suburbs and the $12,115 collected in online cash donations, Lavelle Law Charities, in cooperation with Tony’s Fresh Market, provided the food pantry with $13,000 worth of food.
“This is a very important event for us each year,” Lavelle Law Managing Partner Ted McGinn said. “We have always been very involved in our community, and this event addresses a huge need that exists right here in our backyard. We are so grateful to everyone who participated and to all our business sponsors for helping make an impact.”
The Schaumburg Township Food Pantry currently serves more than 1,100 families per month, and demand has grown substantially since 2022. This event will go a long way in ensuring families won’t go hungry this winter.
After collecting the final boxes of food donations, Ted McGinn of Lavelle Law presented Schaumburg Township Supervisor Timothy Heneghan and Supervisor of Program Support Services Marianne Rogenski with a check for the cash donations at an event attended by local politician, State Sen. Laura Murphy.
