Background:
Our client, because of bad tax advice, accumulated a tax debt with the IRS of over $500,000.00.
Challenges:
Because of the poor tax advice given to the client by a prior tax strategist, the IRS did not view the client’s case in a favorable light and they were close to bringing the IRS Criminal Unit in to investigate the taxpayer. Lavelle Law had to act swiftly to get the taxpayer in compliance and address the other issues that were troubling the IRS. And once the client’s facts were presented in a more favorable light, the Criminal Unit was not called in and we resolved the matter with the IRS.
Result:
After compliance issues were resolved, Lavelle Law represented our client in an Offer in Compromise proceeding and successfully settled with the IRS for $5,000.00, saving our client over $500,000.00!
